Rienzi partners with noted Houston chef Hugo Ortega for “From Peasant to Artisan: The Rise of Mezcal and Oaxacan Cuisine.” This historically inspired dinner celebrates the complex flavors of Oaxaca, built around the world’s most complex spirit: mezcal.

A James Beard Award–winning chef, Ortega (H Town Restaurant Group: Backstreet Cafe, Caracol, Hugo’s, Xochi) has spent years studying and exploring the heirloom ingredients and unique flavors of Oaxaca. He brings his modern vision of this cuisine to Rienzi, along with mezcal and mezcal-cocktail pairings by Sean Beck, sommelier/beverage director for H Town Restaurant Group.

Guests are invited to enjoy a spectacular night of libations and dishes that bring the history of mezcal—Mexico’s original agave spirit—to the forefront.
