Wednesdays, Jul 6-20, 7:30 pm-9 pm

Discover the rituals, traditions, and philosophies of the Tulku system. From the 11th century AD, Tibetans have embraced the practice of recognizing the reincarnations of previous lamas, enthroning small children, and raising them to fill key religious and political roles in their communities. In this short series, the group will explore the Buddhist descriptions of the death and rebirth process that support this practice, the process by which candidates are chosen and trained, and the challenges this system faces – and the ways it’s adapting – in the 21st century.
