Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018 – Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018
02:00 PM – 04:30 PM
US/Central
Presented by Veronica Sesana Grajales, curatorial assistant, Latin American and Latino art; and Glassell School of Art instructor Elena Lopez-Poirot
Assemblage—a way to create art by combining 3-dimensional elements—is used in several works of art on view in Contesting Modernity: Informalism in Venezuela, 1955–1975.
Join Veronica Sesana Grajales for an introduction to the exhibition, followed by Elena Lopez-Poirot’s demonstration of assemblage techniques seen in Contesting Modernity. Then, create your own relief sculpture using found objects, recyclable materials, fabric, and whatever else you’d like to incorporate.
Supplies are provided, but feel free to raid your junk drawers at home and bring items to personalize your project! General admission, which includes access to the exhibition, is also included in your ticket, so be sure to check out the show before or after the workshop.
