Performed by Aperio, Music of the Americas

David Hockeny, Britain’s most popular living artist, continues to break rules, delighting in the deconstruction of proportion, linear perspective, and color theory—showing that traditions are meant to be shattered. Like Hockney’s paintings, music constantly reinvents itself by building upon what came before.

Enjoy a lively concert of South American music for cello and piano featuring Aperio, Music of the Americas. Cellist Daniel Saenz and pianist Michael Zuraw perform tango nuevo, milonga, cantilena, and folk-dance music by Camargo Guarnieri, Astor Piazzolla, Heitor Villa-Lobos, and others.

Drop by after the 3 p.m. screening of David Hockney at the Royal Academy of Arts, London: “A Bigger Picture” & “82 Portraits and One Still Life,” the final film in the summer series Armchair Travel: Exhibition on Screen.

This program, which takes place in Brown Auditorium Theater, is free with Museum admission.
