As a sculptress, Paula J. Haymond seeks to create works which focus on exposing the chatoyance, the tiger eye reflective glint in highly finished wood and brass. Haymond seeks to compliment the glimmer and luster of these materials through her use of segmented pieces of wood, mineral inlay, textured surfaces. Her work is intricate, dynamic and unique. Her new brass pieces reveal the luster of gold through the patina of browns, greens and dark reds. Haymond’s pieces are hand crafted using a wide variety of high speed dental drills, wood burning tips and dyes.
