In conjunction with Collection Close-Up: Of Heaven and Earth, an exhibition of the museum’s permanent collection that explores the long history of bird imagery in art, the Menil Collection and Houston Zoo copresent an experience with bird ambassadors. Home to over 200 species and 800 individual birds, the Houston Zoo is one of the leading centers for bird conservation in the United States. The interactive program features a group of tropical, predatory and other colorful birds from the zoo’s ambassador program, including a Screech Owl, a Harris’s Hawk, a Red-sided Eclectus Parrot, and a Blue-and-Gold Macaw.

This program is free and open to the public. It takes place outdoors and may be rescheduled or cancelled in the event of inclement weather. Further information regarding accessibility and parking can be found here.
