Join Asia Society Texas Center in celebrating the Year of the Rat with special Lunar New Year festivities at The Galleria!

We'll bring free arts and crafts activities, games, and exciting performances for the whole family to enjoy, free and open to the public.

Activities

Year of the Rat Masks
Celebrate the Year of the Rat by coloring and designing your own Rat mask.

Chinese Zodiac Game
Play a matching game to learn about the Chinese Zodiac and the Year of the Rat. Make a postcard featuring the zodiac animal according to your birth year!

Lotus Flowers
Design a colorful lotus flower to bring peace and tranquility for the New Year.

Lion Dance Game
Try on part of a Lion Dance costume, or play a traditional Chinese drum. Dance to the beat and win a prize!

Red Envelopes
Make a red envelope, traditionally used to give small gifts to family and friends during the Lunar New Year.

Japanese Ogre Masks
Create a traditional Japanese mask, worn to bring good luck and good fortune for the New Year.

Year of the Rat Gift Bags
Welcome the Year of the Rat by making a personalized gift bag celebrating the cleverness of the Rat.

  • Wednesday, Friday - Sunday, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
    Thursday (free admission all day), 12:00 pm - 7:00 pm
    Closed Monday and Tuesday and major holidays.
  • Explore Asia Admission: Six interactive stations; includes complimentary access to current exhibition in the Louisa Stude Sarofim Gallery. $15 per guest ages 13 and up. $9 per guest ages 7–12. Free for guests ages 6 and under and for Asia Society members. Louisa Stude Sarofim Gallery Admission Only: $8 per guest. Free for guests ages 6 and under and for Asia Society members.   Free exhibition admission on Thursdays from 12 pm – 7 pm, presented by Regions Bank.
