Artist Presentation with Carroll Parrott Blue

Saturday, Sep. 26, 2015

03:00 PM – 06:00 PM
US/Central

3-4:30 pm HCP presentation
4:30-6 pm CAMH tour of Whispering Bayou

In this workshop presentation Carroll Parrott Blue will share the context and insight into the art and artistry of how her creative growth and development has also coincided with photography and film’s evolution from analog to digital.

Dialogue with the audience about their work is strongly encouraged. Creating new work while working through two centuries of rapid technological changes has proven to be her most challenging yet exciting learning curve.

The workshop ends with the class visiting the Contemporary Art Museum of Houston so that workshop members can both view and contribute to Whispering Bayou, her latest co-authored interactive multimedia work on display at CAMH from August 1 to November 1, 2015.

She has authored The Dawn at My Back an experimental book and DVD-ROM that won the 2004 Sundance Film Festival Jury Award; several PBS documentaries for major series such as NOVA and EYES ON THE PRIZE; her photographs have been published; in 2011 she acquired a National Endowment for the Arts Our Town creative placemaking award for community development in Southeast Houston, and produced Whispering Bayou, a new co-created installation at the Contemporary Art Museum Houston from August 1 to November 1.
