Art + Wine “The Habsburgs’ Cellar: The Homeland and East”

Thursday, Jul. 16, 2015

06:30 PM – 08:15 PM
US/Central

Giuseppe Arcimboldo, Fire, 1566, oil on panel, Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna.

Presented by:
• Christine Gervais, associate curator, decorative arts and Rienzi; co-curator of "Habsburg Splendor: Masterpieces from Vienna’s Imperial Collections"
• Benjamin Roberts, sommelier, Republic National Distributing Company

The Habsburgs ruled over many European countries, and married into even more royal houses. The nation states and regions in which the Habsburgs were active are renowned for producing some of the most sought-after wines the world over.

This Art + Wine program, the first of two presented with Habsburg Splendor, features wines from Austria—the Habsburgs' homeland—as well as Germany, Hungary, and other Eastern European countries. (The second program, on August 20, showcases wines from France, Italy, Portugal, and Spain.)
