Join us as the MFAH collaborates once again with Tintero Projects to create a unique literary experience in the galleries of Contesting Modernity: Informalism in Venezuela, 1955–1975. Each evening, three professional Houston writers perform written pieces inspired by works of art from the exhibition.
Following the performances, grab a notepad and pencil to write your own poem, short story, dialogue, or other work inspired by the art. Each evening offers new writing prompts generated by the participating writers. Or, you can go your own way and write about whatever moves you! Paper and writing utensils are provided, but feel free to bring your own writing tools, too.
After your writing session, head outside to grab a drink and bite at Happy Hour Thursday! The writers are in attendance to answer questions, so feel free to pull up a chair to discuss their creative process, how they selected their work of art, and what inspires them.
Participating Writers
- November 15: Tania Carrillo, Anacristian Chapa, Daniel Peña
- December 13: Jorge Cantu, Patricia Coral, Analicia Sotelo
- January 10: Joseph Baides, Ana de Leon, Reyes Ramirez
