They also share insights on how to continue building and sustaining communities.

Spanish/English interpretation is provided. The event space is wheelchair-accessible. Light refreshments are served.
About the Speakers
Pancho Argüelles was born in Mexico City and has lived in the United States since 1997. He has worked on human-rights issues in Mexico, Central America, and the United States. Argüelles is associated with numerous organizations, including the Fe y Justicia Worker Center, Living Hope Wheelchair Association, and Highlander Research and Education Center.
Lifelong activist Maria Jimenez came to Houston from Mexico with her family in 1957. Her fight for social justice includes advocating for farmworkers, feminism, gender equality, abortion/reproductive rights, immigration, and black liberation. She established the Center for Mexican American Studies at the University of Houston and was named Community Activist of 2010 by the city of Houston.
About “A People’s History of Houston”
